DHAKA, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 MEDIA RELEASE OUTCOMES OF 7TH MEETING OF THE BCB BOARD OF DIRECTORS Playing ban on Shakib Al Hasan reduced The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today reduced the six- month playing ban on allrounder Shakib Al Hasan that had been imposed for breaching agreement terms under the National Player’s Contract. However, the embargo on NOC for participation in overseas competitions will stand. BCB President Nazmul Hassan, MP said the Board took into consideration an appeal from the cricketer and his positive conduct following the ban and unanimously decided to lessen the duration of the sanction: “Shakib will be eligible for selection for the National Team and domestic cricket from 15 September 2014. The Board acknowledged that the player had demonstrated exemplary behavior since he was handed the penalty and we have been pleased with the manner of his appeal. The Board will continue to monitor him once he returns to playing cricket. We hope that he has had the opportunity to reflect on a difficult phase in his life and will come back as the player the world knows and the personality everyone expects him to be.” BOARD CONFIRMS THE APPOINTMENT OF NIZAM UDDIN CHOWDHURY AS ITS CEO The Board confirmed the appointment of Nizam Uddin Chowdhury as its CEO. Chowdhury is one of the longest serving officials of the BCB having joined in January 2000. Previously he had carried out the responsibility of the Board’s Deputy General Manager and General Manager. He had been performing the role of the Acting CEO since the passing away of the previous Chief Executive Manzur Ahmed in January 2012. MASRAFE BIN MORTAZA TO CAPTAIN ASIA SQUAD Fast bowler Masrafe Bin Mortaza has been appointed captain of the Bangladesh Team which will defend the gold medal at the XVII Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea in September-October 2014. BPL 3RD EDITION The 3rd edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 is expected to be held after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. The Board discussed the BPL Governing Council’s observation that a substantial amount is still outstanding in franchisee fee and player payment. The Board endorsed the Governing Council’s recommendation to proceed as per legal advice to recover the claims. ELECTION TO THE POSITION OF VICE PRESIDENT The election to the vacant Vice President’s post of the Board will be held on 16 September 2014. SARWAR IMRAN TO TAKE OVER AS SENIOR COACH HIGH PERFORMANCE Former National Team Head Coach Sarwar Imran has been appointed High Performance Senior Coach of the BCB. Imran will also be the Bangladesh A Team Head Coach for the home series against Zimbabwe A in September 2014. NATIONAL TEAM OPERATIONS MANAGER The Board has decided to advertise for the position of National Team Operations Manager immediately. This will be long-term appointment.
