DID RABINDRANATH TAGORE EVER MET SWAMI VIVEKANANDA ???? SOME HISTORIANS SAY..... In fact Tagore and Vivekananda met through the initiation of Sister Nivedita, who was close to both of them. She arranged a tea party in her residence in Bosepukur Lane and both of them attended the meeting along with other luminaries of that time. Tagore sang some song and Vivekananda also had some talks. No other details are found till date. It was the second meeting between them. Earlier as Narendranath Dutta (pre - monk name), when he was in association with Brahmo Samaj he was in the group which sang Rabindra Sangeet (composed and tuned by Rabindranath) on the occasion of the marriage of Lila the elder daughter of Rajnarayan Bose. Besides, Vivekananda had one college classmate of Tagore family and sometimes Vivekananda visited Jorasanko. Tagores father Debendra Nath Tagore, then a leader of Brahmo Samaj, was very fond of Vivekananda (then Naren Dutta). Only two concrete evidence so far found about their meetings, others we can assume. But it was quite evident that both of them are aware of each other and have their respects.
