DID YOU KNOW???? South African Premier Soccer League side Bloemfontein Celtic have won three Major cups in history. On all the three Occasions they had Malawians players making an impact leading to glory. 1985: The team beat African Wanderers 2-1 to win the Mainstay Cup ( Now Nedbank Cup) Ernest Mtawali was the heart and soul of the team with a man of the match display in the final. Mtawali went on to win the Player of the Season award that year becoming the first foreigner to achieve the feat. 2005: With John Maduka as Captain Celtic broke a 20 year cup draught after beating Supersport United 1-0 in the SAA Supa 8( MTN8) final. Maduka playing in defence was the pillar of strength as Celtic defence frustrated Supersport attacks to defend their lone goal scored by Zambian Roston Kilambe. 2012: Celtic beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 win the Telkom Knockout Cup through a controversial goal by Joel Mogolosi. TV replays showed the Mogolosis hearder did not to cross line but the goal stood and Celtic won the cup with it. Guess who supplied the cross for Mogolosi??? It was Flames international full back Limbikani Mzava.
