DIFFERENT The story is told of incredibly famous philanthropist ordered his employees to work on a Sunday and unload at newly arrived boat. One young and humble man quietly responded: “Mister G., I cannot work on Sunday’s. “You know the rule.” answered the philanthropist. “Yes sir, I know, and even though I’m the sole support of my elderly mother , I cannot work on Sunday’s.” “Well, in that case,” said Mister G. “Report to the payroll office and the clerk will issue you a check.” After being fired, the young man searched three weeks for new employment. One day a banker visited Mr. G., the philanthropist, to ask is he could recommend someone faithful and honorable to be a cashier at a new bank he was opening. Mr. G. mentioned the young man that he had fired and recommended him for the cashier’s position. “But you fired him!” responded the banker in surprise. “Yes Sir” responded the philanthropist “I fired him because he would not work on Sunday’s.” “But a man that would lose his position in lieu of violating his conscience will make a trustworthy cashier.” The world we live in we often see fewer honest persons, those faithful to their principles who know how to keep their word, who do not sell out for cheap material benefits and sadly, we need more of this type of persons. We who God’s love and faithfulness should not allow that anyone or anything entice of make us violate our convictions.
