DIFFICULT INSTRUCTIONS THAT BRINGS BLESSINGS SERIES! MORNING MIRACLE SERMON: 19:07:14 Prepared by Pastor Charles Chanda THE INSTRUCTION! “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” 1Sa 30:8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. Here is an instruction that carries with it the risk over life and yet it must be carried out. We can without doubt all agree that it was such a difficult one and yet needed to be carried out. There comes a time in our Christian walk when we have to take risks for the sake of the Kingdom of God and at other times for the sake of our families as fathers. This brings to my memory an incident that happened over thirty years ago. There was a point when my family subjected to serious poverty as my step dad decided to sit at home and not work for reasons best known to the devil. I was doing my second year at secondary school and was forced to engage in business on weekends and holidays to assist at home. I was selling bread and it was required to be at the bakery as early as 4am. One day I woke up around 2 am and the bus stop was about 2km from home. I woke my mum up and requested that this self imposed unemployed step dad escort me to the station and the answer I got that day showed me that if a man is not the father of your children he will prove that point one day. He said who will come with him back home after escorting me. Can you imagine a man who has labored so much to produce over twelve children refusing to take a risk for his own family? I went alone and did not care what would happen as long as I could bring something home and the unfortunate thing for me was that this same man will even eat more than us. God give us father who can take risks for their families in Jesus Name. It was this same fearless attitude that has helped me in my service to the Lord. I gave up my formal employment to come and work in the church office without even knowing how much I was going to be paid at the end of the month. My eyes were on the service of the great King and not the figures on the pay slip and no wonder at the end of my first month in the church I was not shocked when my father in the Lord gave me a cheque with an amount three times less than my salary in my precious work. I found joy in serving the Lord and the longer I serve him the sweeter he grows. For David this instruction came after seeking the Lord. You see sometimes we take our own initiative because of the facts available. Who would be praying to find out if he must pursue the enemies who have taken his wife and children? Wouldnt people suspect if you did this. This is exactly the problem we have and God wants to correct us. Do not carry out your own instructions as a child of God. Do not just assume that because you are now old you can just pick and choose any man or woman as a marriage partner, seek God. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your steps in Jesus Name. Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. BACKGROUND TO THE PROBLEM THAT DAVID FACED! 1Sa 30:1-3 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; 2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. 3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it wasburned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. There was an invasion and the city was burned with fire, women and children and all the flock taken away. What a great loss for David and his men. They came back hungry hoping to find food and alas and behold there was terrible news awaiting them. See the effect this had on David and his men:“Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep”.( Verse 4). How did David and his men together with their families find themselves in this place called Ziklag? 1Sa 27:1-6 And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand. 2 And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath. 3. And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabals wife. 4. And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him. 5. And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?. 6 Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day. David was tired of being pursued by Saul and he decided to go and lodge with the enemies of God’s people. Can you imagine that David chose to go and dwell with the Philistines of all the people. Do you remember that Goliath was a Philistine! So David chose to go and live with them because king Saul was afraid of the Philistines. There is a lesson to learn here brothers and sisters. The blessings from the Devil are not secured no matter how nice they may be. My brother you have decided to go ahead to marry that Philistine woman and left all the blood washed sisters. Fire is coming upon Ziklag. The same applies to you sister who has left all the prayerful brothers and have opted to marry that Philistine man, just wait for an invasion is on the way. Love not the world neither the things that are there in. This should explain to you and me now why David had to pray before pursuing the enemies as it was because he knew that he was outside the plan of God. The fear for Saul had made him to shift. Those of you who have gone out of the church because of one problem or the other, the Lord is calling you back. Saul will not kill you. God who has protected you before will not fail you in Jesus Name. Watch: The gifts from the Devil have no divine insurance! THE PATH TO RECOVERY! 1Sa 30:8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. 1Sa 30:10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor. Once you get the instruction from the Lord, do not hesitate to do what he has said to you! Blessed are the people who have access to God’s instructions and I pray that you and I will not neglect the words that God is giving to us in Jesus Name. SENSITIVITY TO INSTRUMENTS OF RECOVERY! 1Sa 30:11-15 And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water; 12. And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights. 13. And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick. 14. We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire. 15. And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company. Many people are not sensitive when it comes to things in life that affect our emotions. When a soldier meets an enemy it is death that follows and its even worse when the enemy confesses to have been among those who have inflicted damage on the other camp. Some people would have killed this Egyptian because of anger but David was sensitive the the Lord. Please God’s people including ministers of the gospel, learn to depend on the Lord for all things. Do you realize that many churches have closed the doors for instruments of recovery because of minor things that could have happened. This same man who was among those who burned Ziklag was used to give the people of God victory. Don’t neglect injured souls as they may be the ones holding the key to your victory. Love your enemies and feed them. I am sure this instruction now makes a lot of sense to you. EVERYTHING WAS RECOVERED EXCEPT FOR THE BURNT HOUSES OF ZIKLAG! 1Sa 30:18-20 And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. 19. And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor anything that they had taken to them: David recovered all. 20And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is Davids spoil. There is safety for all that God gives except the property of the Devil. Every property of the Devil in your life will be invaded and burnt with fire but whatever God has given you is going nowhere. When the Devil takes it away, recovery follows. We are recovering all that the Devil has taken from us this day in Jesus Name. I will not cry no panic over that which is not recoverable. Let those house from the Philistines burnt. No stress about it. All of you who mourning over perishables, arise as your victory has come in Jesus Name. Sing with me: It shall be permanent what the Lord has done for me, it shall be permanent! It shall be forever, the blessing the Lord has given me, It shall be forever! It shall be everlasting, the life Christ has given me, It shall be everlasting! LET US PRAY! Father in the Name of Jesus, we thank you because there is no loss, no lack and no limitation for us as your children. Every perfect gift from you that the Devil has taken from us, we recover right now by faith in Jesus name. Help us dear Lord not to weep over gifts from the enemy which he has taken back. I command you stress: back to sender in Jesus name. There is no worry any more. All is well in Jesus Name. Thank you Lord for the answer. In Jesus Name I pray!
