DIRTY PICTURE Yesterday Pakistan saw one of the darkest chapters - TopicsExpress

DIRTY PICTURE Yesterday Pakistan saw one of the darkest chapters of her history not because a few hundred rioters attacked the building of its national television channel and ransacked it but for the reason that the attack was both welcomed and facilitated by non others than the rangers and the army contingents deployed there to secure the building. It was shocking to witness thugs chanting slogans in favor of the army while ransacking the building. The broadcast was still suspended when the rioters were being escorted outside the building by an army contingent under the command of a major. After the press conference held by Mr. Javed Hashmi, the president of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, the dirty game of power politics has touched its lowest ebb in Pakistan. In the aftermath of this press conference, it seems to be an established fact that in Pakistan the stake of our deep state is too high to be defied and the generals are powerful enough to buy off civvies of any brand and use them to secure their vested interests even at the cost of crushing dreams of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Let us believe for a while that there is an element of truth in what Javed Hashmi said in his press conference yesterday, it becomes then clearly understandable that why Dr. Tahir ul Qadri while ranting against this corrupt system always avoid to mention exploitative nature of our military establishment, the biggest beneficiary of the very system he despises. Had he been sincere in his cause to bring about a revolution based upon a true social justice system, he would have staged a sit-in in front of GHQ rather than the parliament or the prime minister house. Concluding that both the marches being unable to force the prime minister to resign despite making every effort, there is a fear that their handlers will soon be obliged to distance themselves from this looming debacle. The doom can be seen clearly written on the wall. I do not talk about Qadri, but what will happen if Imran Khan, the chairman of PTI, the third largest party in the parliament goes back home without prime ministers resignation in hands? I think his party had a tremendous potential to bring about a true change in Pakistan but unfortunately it has been sacrificed at the altar of his ego, vanity and useless hatred against Sharif brothers. With the passing of each hour, we witness strengthening of the demand that Mr. Imran Khan following his own logic must resign from the chairmanship of his party and remains so until the serious allegations leveled against him by none other than his own party president are proven false. His Azadi march has entered into 19th day since it began on 14th August without accruing the stated result of forcing the prime minister to resign and the frustration level of his followers can be gauged from todays ransacking of PTV building at their hands.
