DISHS will host a visiting team from the League of Innovative Schools/NextGen Personalized Learning Initiative tomorrow. DISHS was selected as one of 36 high schools in New England- and only 5 in Maine- to move on to the second stage in the planning phase of the League of Innovative Schools/NextGen Personalized Learning Initiative. Between now and December, the school will develop an action plan leading to a learning environment that offers substantially personalized learning to all students starting in September, 2015. Our action plan will include full implementation of the three Pathways currently under development, Personalized Learning Plans for all students, and a system of proficiency-based learning which will ensure that all students graduate ready for college and modern, fulfilling careers. The visiting team will get a sense of the current learning experience for students by observing classroom practices from a variety of content and levels as a baseline and will provide formative feedback as we put the finishing touches on our action plan.
