DISMISSING THE END OF FAITH The End of Faith by Sam Harris, - TopicsExpress

DISMISSING THE END OF FAITH The End of Faith by Sam Harris, which articulates the dangers and absurdities of organized religion, according to Richard Dawkins, is a genuinely frightening book. I disagree Mr. Dawkins, with all due respect and my dog with dispute Sam Harris. Sam Harris simple logic in The End of Faith is this: All belief in God is unfounded; That which is unfounded is without evidence; Therefore, all belief in God is without evidence. Let us label Harris argument as A. We derive: Harris believes that A is true. Let us label the above as proposition B. Now, I offer my counter-argument: My dog believes that B is true. This means that my dog believes that Harris believes in A. My dog believes that B is false. This means that my dog does not believe that Harris believes in A. Now, let me add: I believe that my dog believes that B is true. Analysis: While what my proposition adds is the assertion that I believe in something that my dog believes in (though this is unfounded because I cannot ask my dog about it), Harris should understand that it does not matter what he believes in or what he does not, in as much as it does not really matter to me to ask my dog about his position regarding B.
