DISNEYLAND FACT OF THE DAY: Many of you will recall the Pendleton Woolen Mills Dry Goods Store in Frontierland. It opened on Disneylands second day, July 18, 1955. When it debuted in Frontierland, Pendleton was already over 40 years old and a respected manufacturer of woolen fabrics and blankets in Oregon. In the Disneyland store, flannel shirts, which would prove popular with 60s surfers (the Beach Boys wore them in their early days as the Pendletones), were especially prominent. In 1990 Pendleton finally left and the store became Bonanza Outfitters, another retailer of Frontierland fashions.
