DISTANT HOME COUNTRY VIEWS. The Painted Canyon North Dakota - TopicsExpress

DISTANT HOME COUNTRY VIEWS. The Painted Canyon North Dakota Badlands Overlook that was. These seven images are copies from old real photo or lithographed postcards and one home snapshot. They will not be nearly as sharp as modern photographic examples. Im not sure when the structures at the Painted Canyon Overlook, located about 6 miles east of Medora were constructed. Probably in the 1940s or a bit earlier. I would guess that the earliest of these date from the 40s. I know that the first shot was taken about 1954. These tourist facilities were replaced by a National Park Service interpretive center, combination rest stop when Interstate 94 replaced old State Highway 10. Roy and June Noyes were the last proprietors of early facilities that are not part of these photos except for a small sliver of the restaurant in the first image.
