DIY CRATE COFFEE TABLE: You will never look at cheap Michaels crates the same way again! For pictorial directions, see hometalk/l/7zk. Supplies: -4 wood crates (or more for a larger coffee table) -1 piece heavy duty plywood -1 can of wood stain -Foam or paint brush for stain -4 caster wheels with locks -24 5/8″ wood screws -Electric wood sander (if sanding edges) -4 small L brackets Stain or paint the top of plywood and wood crates. Use a foam brush, paint brush, or a towel or rag for more control. Allow crates to dry; you will want to put on at least two coats. Once the stain or paint is completely dry, screw your caster wheels to the bottom of your plywood. Then put your crates together how you want and drill them together. Drill 4 screws at the bottom of each crate to the plywood. After fastening the crates to your base, use a few screws to connect the crates together for better stability. Once all four crates are screwed securely together, measure the space in-between them so that you can cut a piece of plywood to fit. Once you have the measurements, cut your plywood and stain it. While your piece of plywood is drying, screw in your L brackets. To complete, put your piece of plywood in and enjoy!
