On Saturday nights, she can be seen blazing up the turntables at her weekly spot, Torontos hottest supper club, Buonanotte. What started as a hobby, turned into her dream career. “When I started to DJ it wasn’t for anyone else, it was for myself,” Fizza says. “I was okay with being a bedroom dj.” The stigma behind female DJs not being “real” DJs was Fizza’s first hurdle but she got over it and mustered up the confidence to play her first gig and the rest was history. Fizza was exposed to various types of music when she was growing up. She recalls her mother playing ’60s and ’70s Bollywood tracks and her sisters blasting ’80s and ’90s pop music and classic house. Fizza now plays at Torontos elite events including Toronto International Film Festival After Parties, Toronto Fashion Week, and the hottest clubs in Canada, including: Muzik, Spoke Club, Skybar, and Vancouver’s Cabana Lounge.
