DJ Khaled - Suffering From Success - 3/5 This is my first Khaled album, so I didnt know what to expect. Of course Ive heard his many singles, but I was interested to see how the album would play out, and the result isnt spectacular. This album is another generic club album, reminiscent to Rich Gang. There are some absolute bangers on her, mixed with some more smooth and interesting cuts. J. Cole drops the best verse on his own moody beat on Hells Kitchen, Lil Wayne has his best feature as of late on No Motive, with a very dope beat that constantly changes. Other places, like Murcielago (Doors Go Up), which has my least favorite beat and rapper, Birdman, both of which are lazy, and Blackball, would have never made another album except this one. I really wish Khaled produced more of a complete album, rather than random songs, which is also reminiscent of RG. Lyrics: The lyrics all revolve around: haters, money, the struggle, cars, women, the usual. J. Cole, Drake, Meek Mill, and Ace Hood easily bully the rest lyrically, although Vado does handle his beat. Mavado, I have no clue what he is saying, and neither Rick Ross, who is getting worse with time. The best lyrical song is by far Never Surrender which was a breath of fresh air, and easily the best song on the LP. Future has good spots, and is in perfect balance here. Beats: The beats her are pretty good, and sometimes make up for the lyrical content. Suffering From Success and I Feel Like... and You Dont Want These Problems, knock hard as the rest of them, while No New Friends and Im Still are a happy medium. The most interesting beat is No Motive, which is the perfect backdrop for Wayne, and constantly moves. Best Tracks: No Motive, Im Still, No New Friends, Never Surrender
