DJ, thank you for this excellent post. I will pass this on to others....at least those who sympathize and understand what point this gentleman has made....truly it is so.....we are all victims of a massive program of mind control ,monetarian and media manipulation. This document is one of secession from what was viewed as an overreaching, tyrannical government and an act of nullification of the claim of dominion and control over the people of the colonies claimed by King George III and England. On July 4th of 1776, we had independence and individual rights defined in their purest form. Several of those we refer to as founders believed that to protect these rights, government should be created relying solely on consent of the governed. Of course this has morphed into what we have today which dictates, to function in our daily lives we must do so only with consent from the government. (How much water is in your toilet?) The perversion is almost totally complete. This, of course, was the desired goal of several others we refer to as founders. The Jefferson declaration most importantly defined by what authority the people could declare their independence. Jefferson wrote of the powers of the earth and to the equality of the Laws of Nature and Natures God. Jefferson continued by explaining the origin of that authority to be certain unalienable rights that were endowed by the[ir] Creator. Clearly defined is the maxim that rights we possess because of our humanity, originating with our Creator, shall not be modified, codified or abrogated to facilitate the ascension of one group or person over another. Jefferson very adeptly defined our unalienable rights thusly: Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add within the limits of the law because law is often but the tyrants will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual. Here again Jefferson differentiates between the individual and government. Government makes and enforces laws and Jefferson cites how government laws can be used to subvert and destroy individual rights. But, now our society has devolved to the point that the laws of man are considered omnipotent and therefore must be used and enforced to control the rights of the individual, which as previously mentioned, originate with our Creator. There we have it; the laws of man supersede and are supreme over the rights bestowed upon us by our Creator. In the minds and actions of many, government trumps God. I can find no better illustration of this unfortunate truth than what transpired in an election forum right here in this county a couple of months ago. A candidate for the office of Sheriff was asked, If the federal government passes a law which is clearly unconstitutional, what steps would you take to counter such action? This candidates response was: I could do nothing; by what authority would I act? This candidates response, boiled down to the lowest common denominator is: government is our god; its laws or edicts must be obeyed. Individual rights granted by the Creator must give way to government. Even more concerning was the fact not one person in the crowd assembled had the knowledge and/or courage to challenge the response. In this candidates mind government is supreme and therefore shall have no other gods before it and government is a jealous god tolerating no encroachments on its power. This person was elected to the office of Sheriff and I assure you his office will be run according to the above beliefs. In his mind the government is god and whatever laws and regulations it passes should never be challenged by mere mortals and his desired end will always justify the means. For decades I have recognized the fact that for those of the progressive liberal persuasion, worship of government as god is present in their DNA Markers. Like others, I once believed such beliefs could be countered with a good dose of conservatism which appeared to only be found in the R political party camp. Unfortunately for those of us who once held that belief, any semblance of belief in the principles of our Declaration of Independence melted in the white hot heat of what is known today as Neoconservative religion, which is nothing but fascism wrapped in several layers of progressive liberalism, coated in a hard candy shell of Republican Party hyperbole. The right-wing government-as-god folks are usually easy to identify. They are often seen worshiping at the altar of the archangels of government domination: the military and the police. Anyone who is incapable of judging the actions of the military and police objectively as they do the actions of others; when they constantly seek to rationalize their oftentimes criminal actions, believe government to be godly or pious. The history of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Maos China certainly bear witness to this observation. While researching for this article, I happened across a YouTube video of the same name narrated by Larken Rose. (Included below) No words I could possibly conjure could be as compelling as the pictures and words in this video. For those on both sides of the political spectrum who have embraced the government as their god, this will be a really tough video to watch and many will not be able to make it to the end. As Ayn Rand said, we might be able to avoid reality, but we cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality. For those of us who see the worship of government as what is contributing most to the total destruction of Liberty and Individual Rights as mentioned in our Declaration of Independence, the words in this video, while being painful, will only serve to harden our resolve to continue the fight of Jefferson and others who truly understood the difference between freedom and slavery. https://youtube/watch?v=Ad5DJwU6uJA snip/ Benjamin Franklin Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters. If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects something it cannot be Thomas Jefferson A nation of well informed men and women, who have been taught to know and prize the rights that GOD has given them, cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins. Benjamin Franklin In Liberty mike -- We Americans are the ultimate innocents. We are forever desperate to believe that this time the government is telling us the truth. ~Sydney Schanberg Most human beings only think they want freedom. In truth they yearn for the bondage of social order, rigid laws, materialism. The only freedom man really wants, is the freedom to become comfortable. ~Emma Goldman [unfortunately true..B:/]
