DMCP: Uduaghan Sends Bill To Assembly BY LUCKY OYIBO The Delta State Micro-Credit Programme yesterday received a boost as Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan sent legal framework to the Delta State House of Assembly for consideration and early legislative action. The legal framework is a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, 2014. The objective of the bill is to have, for the state, a legal structure to sustain the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and to coordinate their activities with international development agencies and donors. The programme was formally established in December 14, 2007 by Governor Uduaghan following its inauguration at Koko in Warri North Council Secretariat. Since then, the agency has empowered over 100,000 Deltans on micro and small scale businesses and won many local and international awards to the credit of the state government via the driver of the programme in the state, Dr Antonia Ashiedu. The awards include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) micro-credit awards it has won consecutively. Also sent by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to the State House of Assembly was a letter for the appointment of a member of the Delta State Judicial Service Commission, Chief Stephen Onyenichie Ajusah. The content of the letter as read by the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, on the floor of the House, said the vacancy arose when Rev. Paul Friday Anyasi, whose appointment was previously confirmed by the House of Assembly, declined his appointment by reason of his current service in the Delta State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board. The two letters were received for further consideration following separate motions moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Monday Igbuya and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Julius Okpoko and the member representing Uvwie constituency, Hon. Efe Ofobroku. The second reading on the Tenure and Retirement Age of Delta State Tertiary Institutions Bill, 2014; Delta State Polytechnics Bill, 2014 and the continuation on the Delta State Schools of Nursing and Midwifery Bill, 2014 by the Committee of the Whole House were deferred to next legislative sitting.
