DO CITIZENS OR CORPORATE INTERESTS get to lay down the rules for the environment that citizens have to live with? The GOP-controlled congress is off to the races, and at the federal level, first up will be the fight to get the KXL Pipeline approved, then on to clipping the wings of the EPA with their friends at ALEC. At the state level, beware! ALEC is lurking, working hand in glove with rightwing state legislators all over the country to walk backwards on clean, sustainable energy and to prop up and further embolden the dirty fossil fuel industries who are poisoning us for profit. Also at the state level, knowing what youre buying at the store to put into your body will remain a mystery, as GMO labeling is under attack. Big Food and Ag want to convince you that GMO food is good for you, yet they are terrified to have to put a small label on a product that says your food contains genetically modified organisms. Oh noes!! And they are spending billions to fight against transparency! And at the very local level, the fight against fracking and the many community fracking bans that have been passed will be fought with lawsuits and intimidation, brought to you by the Extraction Cabal. And it wont be a fair fight for the meek or the financially-challenged. Elections have consequences. I did vote, I always vote, and it seems lately that all I get is this Tea Sh!t. I may criticize the Democrats where criticism is very due, where they go along with the conservatives on these destructive schemes against the people and the planet, against nature and humanity, or when they choose not to fight them at all. I have the right to vote as I see fit, and then to complain and dissent and protest as I see fit. I am an American. I will continue to speak out whenever I see the Democrats folding inward to the conservative/neoliberal mindset. This poisonous ideology is the biggest global virus the world has ever seen. It is widespread and it is everywhere.
