DO NOT BE DECEIVED: Jesus said in Matt 24 that one of the primary marks and signs of His soon return would be DECEPTION. And Paul expounded on that in 2 Thess 2 when he said that last days deception would not only take the form of false teachers, but also lying signs and wonders coming as false miracles, false healing, and deceptive and false spiritual experiences. I see many of these lying manifestations happening right now on Christian TV, in some well known churches, and in large Christian conferences. The most needed gift in the Body of Christ today is not healing or faith but DISCERNMENT and the gift of the Discerning of Spirits and a true knowledge of the Word. How do we distinguish the true from the false? What is the criteria by which we judge a sign or a wonder? Jannes and Jambres, Pharoahs magician duplicated the miracles which Moses performed!! That should make us sit up and take notice!! I am shocked to see how many judge any spiritual experience on how it makes them FEEL or on how it appears. That is a very dangerous practice! The fruit which Eve ate in the Garden of Eden LOOKED good! She forgot about the Word of God and was swayed by her senses. Look at the progression in her thinking, When the woman saw that the tree was GOOD for food, and that it was a DELIGHT to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one WISE, she took from its fruit and ate. Gen 3:6 . She thought that it was gong to be enjoyable to her flesh and enable her to know more than she already knew (revelation knowledge). The root of all occult activities is the attempt to gain knowledge beyond what God has already revealed. There are two kinds of discernment: The Gift of the discerning of Spirits which is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and the discernment which comes through both experience (we learn from our mistakes) and from KNOWING the Word of God and testing everything against it alone. This is explained clearly in Heb 5,For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the MATURE, who because of practice (use) have their senses TRAINED TO DISCERN GOOD AND EVIL Heb 5:12-14 nasb Those who have walked with the Lord for a number of years will have more experience then a new born Believer. That is why it pays to listen to older, mature saints of God. But it is only by knowing the Word of God that we will be able to rightly judge and to discern what is a true sign from God and what is a deceptive false wonder. Do not be deceived!
