DO NOT FORGET GOD Ants: Be careful, lest you forget the Lord your God, to keep his commandments, His laws and statutes, which I command thee this day. (Deuteronomy 8:11) DO NOT FORGET GOD Did you get something that seems impossible? Maybe it was the fulfillment of financial needs, miraculously healing, or a solution to a complicated problem. Usually shortly after the experience, our hearts will overflow with joy, amazement, and gratitude. But, how long will it last thanksgiving? What kind of changes that occur in our lives through it? The Israelites get something that seems impossible: the Lord delivered them from slavery in Egypt. Then he took them to wander in the wilderness for forty years for the sake of humble themselves and make them hold on to His commands (v. 2). He eventually brought them to enter the promised land filled with abundance (vv. 7-10). God knows, there is always a tendency to forget himself when the people of Israel live in comfort and smoothness. Therefore, he needs to warn them (vv. 12-13). Forgetting God is not only no longer acknowledge His existence, but it also means no longer live according to His commandments and be proud to assume everything they earn as a result of their hard work (vv. 12, 14). Is this time we are filled with gratitude for getting something that seems impossible? Feel comfortable because our needs are met? Take care not to be haughty and forget God the Giver by no longer live according to His commands. COMFORT LIVING presumably NOT MAKING us complacent, BUT MORE AND FULL OF JOY GIAT SERVE GOD.
