DO NOT LACK ANYTHING, FULFILL ALL YOUR NEEDS Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. The word translated want in the above verse is the Hebrew word chaser which has three synonyms that mean: (i) to lack (ii) to fail (iii) to want. Therefore Psalm 23:1 makes it clear that God is our shepherd whose divine plan for us is to lack absolutely nothing, we are supposed to operate in abundance(God shall supply all your needs). Secondly, with God as our shepherd we shall not fail - Christians are designed for success and not failure. Thirdly, with God as our shepherd we shall not want -this means Christians are not supposed to live a life without fulfilment. If your life is unfulfilled, lacks something or has failure manifesting in some of your endeavours, what must you do? The answer is in Luke 4:18 below. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor............... Poor in the above verse is taken from the Greek word ptochos which means one who (i) lacks - has insufficiency (ii)is poor - is lacking and has become a beggar (iii) is frightened - full of fear (iv) is falling - operating at a lower level and is therefore unfulfilled. If we substitute the true meaning of the word translated poor in Luke 4:18 we see that it has the same meaning as the word translated want in Psalm 23:1 as described earlier. The cure that Jesus prescribed (Luke 4:18) for the poor, those who lack, beg, or live unfulfilled lives is to preach the gospel (the Word of God) to them. If you have any area of lack or are unfulfilled in your life, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to find the Word of God that is prescribed for that area and meditate on it. For example if you need protection, speak Psalm 91 over your life. On Thursday 28th August 2014 my wife Pastor Bernadette (aka Pastor B) and myself celebrated 15 years of a joyous marriage filled with love. We are grateful to God for bringing us this far and we are excited that it is only 35 more years before we celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in Jesus name, amen. In this marriage we have grown spiritually and worked on our faith by meditating on God’s Word. One of our key guiding principles in this marriage have been the truths in the verses Ephesians 5:33 below. Ephesians 5:29-33 (Amplified Bible)29 For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,30 Because we are members (parts) of His body.31 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.32 This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning [the relation of] Christ and the church.33 However, let each man of you [without exception] love his wife as [being in a sense] his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [[a]that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and [b]that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly]. Ephesians 5:29-33 (Message Bible) No one abuses his own body, does he? No, he feeds and pampers it. That’s how Christ treats us, the church, since we are part of his body. And this is why a man leaves father and mother and cherishes his wife. No longer two, they become “one flesh.” This is a huge mystery, and I don’t pretend to understand it all. What is clearest to me is the way Christ treats the church. And this provides a good picture of how each husband is to treat his wife, loving himself in loving her, and how each wife is to honor her husband.
