DO NOT OWE DEBT THAT MAY BE DIFFICULT TO PAY Judges 11:1-40 It was the Psalmist in Psalms 116:12-14 that says How can I repay the Lord for all His benefits towards me? I will take up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord.I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all the people. There are some debts that we owe that we can easily pay back, but there are some debts we owe that we find difficult to pay. Some are debts of oath or vows, some are financial debts while some are the debts of the favour and good things that are done to us- like the one in Ps 116:12, we owe some debts by vows or words of mouth. In Judges 11:1-8 Jephthah was driven from his fathers house because the brothers were saying that he should not share in their fathers heritage because he was a son of a harlot born to their father. The brothers then drove him out of his fathers house.But when there was war between the children of Ammon and Israel,the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah to be their captain and to lead them to the war. On their way to the war, Jephthah made a vow to the Lord, if you deliver the children of Ammon into my hands, whoever comes to meet me from my house after the battle shall be offered to God as a burnt offering, Judges 11:30-31. God gave him victory and when he came back, it was his only daughter that met him first with timbrel and dances. Judges 11:34: Jephthah then said, Alas my daughter! Thou has brought me very low, you have put me in trouble, I have made a vow to the Lord, and I cannot take it back. Like Jephthah, many people make vows or promises without considering the implications, many promise to visit or call but they have no intention of doing so. Many make vows to God or dieties without the knowledge of the incantations or without the intentions of keeping the vows. Many peoples problem started from when they made vow that is now causing problems.Many were made to take oath that will bind their future generations and they did,and these oaths are causing problems today. May God deliver us from useless powers binding us because of what we said in Jesus Name. Prayers: Pray that those who rejected you, will take you back.
