DO YOU KNOW THIS ???????? Floods in India’s Northeastern states - TopicsExpress

DO YOU KNOW THIS ???????? Floods in India’s Northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya have claimed 93 lives so far. Authorities in Assam estimate that 350,000 people have been forced to leave their homes due to floods. A total of 54,088 houses have been fully damaged while 82,095 houses are partially damaged in Assam. In Meghalay the scenario is all the more devastating with lakhs of people affected. BUT, Unlike the recent floods in Kashmir and Uttarakhand, floods in the North-East have so far not witnessed any backlash against the government’s alleged inaction. Moreover, floods in the North-East have not been covered extensively by the mainstream Indian media. Kashmir floods and Uttarakhand floods dominated the news bulletins on all prime-time TV channels and made the front-page headline of all leading newspapers. BUT, unfortunately, hardly does anyone care about the lives and properties lost in the floods in the North-East? Even, the Central Government is busy with Swatch Bharat mission .... But the big question is, when will this ‘neglected region’ get its due?
