DO YOU LIKE YOUR LIFE? Ive been thinking about my answer to that question alot this summer. During the worst weeks of the pain and exhaustion of the fibramyalgia I had to say emphatically, NO I DONT! And I have to admit God has taught me some pretty powerful lessons through this process. You see, while I was going through that season (which isnt over yet) my wife still loved me and was faithful in loving me for better or worse. I still had all my best friends who never abandoned me for a moment. I was still able to do my horseshoe nail creations almost every day and fill orders. I was still able to sing for my beloved Alzheimer patients in all the nursing homes. I was still able to write a sermon for every Sunday which I love more than I can express. But because one area wasnt up to par (my health) I looked at everything else through the eyes of that one area and concluded NO, I DONT LIKE MY LIFE. Its almost like we put on a pair of glasses that says Life sucks and everything we look at through those glasses gives us the same conclusion. Ive talked recently to a man who is going through a terrible time financially and he has the same pair of glasses. In his case, his health is still excellent, he still has many friends, his faith, several joy giving hobbies and yet he doesnt like his life either because of one area that stinks. Its interesting. A couple weeks ago I was talking to another person who has been diagnosed with a terrible cancer which could kill this person but you know what she said to me I have cancer, Pastor paul, but cancer doesnt have me I got thinking about what she said and had an epiphany. I can decide what value my life has by what glasses I choose to put on each day and I decided then and there I was going to stop living with myopic vision, only seeing what was not right. I have fibramyalgia but fibramyalgia does not determine the value of today. I decide that and have concluded that I LIKE MY LIFE EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TO MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENTS...... Have you given yourself an eye exam lately?...
