DO YOU RECOGNIZE JESUS WHEN YOU SEE HIM? (For those who have ears) There are always discussions about what people believe Jesus looks like. But what is really important for us to understand is who He is in our lives today. Lets take a look at the parable of the sheep and the goats but we will focus on the sheep because that is who we are: And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. ’ “ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? ’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. Matt 25:33-40 There is confusion in the body of Christ about how we love our Savior. But it is clear in the above scriptures that we love Him by how we love others. Consider the heart condition of those Jesus calls the least of the brethren. They are desperate and in need. These types of people are all around us. In their times alone they cry out to God and ask Him to prove His love and ask Him to help them because no one else will. They are the homeless and hungry people we see on the side of the roads. They are our friends and relatives that have just been diagnosed with a terrible disease. They are the trouble makers who have been humbled and their lives turned upside down from being sentenced to jail. But each one is a precious child of our heavenly Father who has promised to be faithful to. So He listens to their prayers and agrees to answer them. That is where we come in. We are an extension of Him. We are His ambassadors and the right and left hand of His body. He has asked us to reach out to them and help them the best we can. This is the ministry of reconciliation we are all called to do. Could you imagine the difference the churches would make in our society if everyone did their part? Jesus changed the world with 12 dedicated apostles. We have churches with thousands of members that have little to no impact on their communities. Things should not be like that, but the lukewarm churches are all about making hearers and not doers. We have men from the pulpits building their own kingdoms and not the kingdom of God. The question is what will you do as an individual about this? If you stood at the judgement seat of Christ today would you be confident that you did what He asked you or would you feel regret? That time will come for all of us, so lets make it count and look forward to that day because we recognized Jesus when we saw Him! “ Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:19-21
