DOES ANYONE STILL SELL BIBLES? Does anyone still sell bibles? Do we still have bible study? Do people still draw nigh to hear and search the scriptures? Is there still such a discipline as teaching Gods Word? We sell everything else that substitutes personal study and application of Gods Word We have devised every possible way to replace the Word with gimmicks We have mastered the art of mixing worldly views with what is of God We have really achieved complete mind control of the masses outside Gods Word Now the question that still remains unanswered is: Where is Gods Word? Does it still matter what is written? Didnt He who is called THE WORD resist the devil by declaring, IT IS WRITTEN? Why does it not matter anymore what is written? We find it easy to stock our libraries with our favourite authors books But the Bible, if we have a copy, accumulates dust on our shelves Instead of believing it many are calling for its revision to fit in with popular preaching Didnt He say, Heavens and earth shall pass but my WORD remains forever? Didnt He say we err because we do not know Gods Word and Power? Didnt He command that we study and preach it in and out of season? Didnt He tell us He inspired it for our rebuke, reproof and training in righteousness? Why have we so conveniently exalted mans word above Gods Word ? Why is it easier to quote human sources than Gods timeless Word? We sell blankets We sell oil We sell water Now we sell pens I hear prophets photos sell faster than hot cakes We sell roses and pieces of the cross We sell autographed books by famous preachers BUT OUR SHELVES HAVE NO ROOM FOR THE WORD BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT MANY WHO BUY OUR BOOOKS WILL FIND ERROR IN WHAT WE SAY THE DAY THEY COMPARE IT WITH GODs WORD To our shame we quote politicians in our church services To our embarrassment we quote secular humanists to drive home our points We even quote well known atheists, agnostics and anti-Christs FROM THE PULPIT We think it endears us to our hearers to quote business magazines and academic sources YET IT IS ONLY THE WORD THAT IS SHARPER THAN ANY TWO-EDGED SWORD IT IS ONLY THE WORD THAT PIERCES TO THE DIVIDING ASUNDER OF SOULS AND SPIRITS IT IS ONLY THE WORD THAT KNOWS THE INTENTS AND CONDITIONS OF HUMAN HEARTS I pray the day comes in the not-so-distant future When Gods Word shall take the centre stage in our gatherings again I pray that it shall matter AGAIN what is written by Father God Almighty I pray that it shall once more not matter what the great and famous say but only God I PRAY THAT DAY IS TODAY Todays Meditation Matthew 4 1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” 4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ 7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” 11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. Psalm 1 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. Joshua 1 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” 2 Timothy 3 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
