DOGS IN NEED! MBR has hit a snag… well sort of. We take in dogs regardless of their illness and 9 times out of 10 we know what we are getting ourselves into but there is a silent killer that hides in the shadows. This killer we usually see at least once a year sometimes twice. So needless to say we were surprised that in just under 2 months this killer has struck 3 of our dogs! Brad, Echo and now Shadow all have heartworm. There is treatment and they are going to be ok once treatment is complete but what that means for the rescue is having the dogs in our rescue for 3 months while going through treatment tying up a foster home and making it harder to save more lives. That is 3 months that the dog potential is unable to find a forever home. We will allow them to go to a foster to adopt home but there aren’t a lot of people willing to foster while they go through treatment. Treatment usually costs about $500 per dog. Then on top of that we have a dog with mange - Blake, a dog with seizures - Misty, 2 that are in training – Bailey and Harley AND today we were contacted by an adopter whose 1 year old yellow lab mix, Luna, needs bilateral knee surgery for Medial Patellar Luxation. The surgery cost is $3,000. The adopter asked we help spread the word as she is trying to raise funds. Here is the GoFundMe link gofundme/ea26t4 HOWEVER, GoFund me takes a percentage so if anyone is interested in helping, even just $5.00 you can donate to MBR (which is tax deductible) and we will make sure Luna gets the money. And lets not forget we currenlty have 3 litters of puppies in the rescue. That is EXPENSIVE and the foster homes are tied up with the mom and puppies for the next 2 months, again making it hard to save those about to die in the shelters! So anyone interested in helping ANY of the dogs mentioned above PLEASE even $5.00 will help you can send money via pay pal to amy2002buckeye@yahoo or send checks to 10886 West Ridge Rd Elyria Ohio 44035 OR call Fox Vet at 440-458-4291 to make a donation. Please make sure you specify which dog you are donating to. MBR will be donating $500 to Luna’s vet bill. THANK YOU!
