DOING IT THE AUSTRALIAN WAY.... So called Asylum Seekers (illegal refugees) hoping for a Western style lifestyle in sunny Oz will no longer be resettled in Australia but will be shipped on to an Island off Papua New Guinea, the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced. Following Mr Rudd’s announcement, rioting broke out at an asylum seekers centre in Nauru, although those currently on Nauru will still be processed normally and could end up in Australia. Police were called to stop the rioting and the center was badly damaged. Australia has suffered a sharp rise in the number of asylum seekers in recent months. Mr Rudd said this “hard-line decision” was taken to ensure border security and was also aimed at dissuading people from making the dangerous journey to Australia.Mr Rudd also told the press “Our country has had enough of people-smugglers exploiting asylum-seekers and sending them to drown of the high seas. From now on, any asylum seeker who arrives in Australia by boat will have no chance of being settled in Australia as refuges. The new arrangements will allow Australia to help more people who are genuinely in need and help prevent people smugglers from abusing our system.” Australia has been hit by multitudes of so-called asylum seekers lately mainly from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Last Thursday Indonesia said it had stopped giving Iranians visas on arrival to help ease the Australian problem. So called Asylum Seekers have become a hot topic in Australia and will remain so with a general election looming.
