DOLPHINS SPOTTED SWIMMING IN THE GREAT LAKES Detroit, - TopicsExpress

DOLPHINS SPOTTED SWIMMING IN THE GREAT LAKES Detroit, automobile capital of the world, home of some of the greatest music ever made and the Detroit Lions. It is in this city of the Midwest, that the showdown between the Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins will take place this Sunday. Miami will be looking forward to continue riding the wave of media recognition which followed the beat down of San Diego last Sunday, while the 6 - 2 Lions, will try to improve their record to 7- 2 and remain at least a full game ahead of the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North standings. The weather in Detroit at game time, is expected to be in the 30s , with a wintry mix of ice and snow in the forecast. These conditions are more suitable for penguins and seals than it is for Dolphins. The weather prediction for Sunday is welcome news for the team with the better running game, but with Lamar Miller nursing an injury to his shoulder and limited in practice, and Detroits Reggie Bush scheduled to play, it should be the Lions the ones celebrating the gloomy forecast. The fact that Detroit has a better overall record than Miami and the top rated defense in the NFL is yet another reason for Lion fans to be happy and confident about the perfect storm of weather, and injury report developing in the upper Midwest. Players will still suit up on Sunday afternoon and the game will still have to be played as it invariably has to be, but we, the Dolphin fan, should not lose hope and mope, because of the ominous forecast. Detroit does have a better record than Miami, but taking a closer look, most of the Lions victories have come at the expense of sub .500 teams. Out of those, only the Green Bay Packers can boast of a winning record. Mathew Stafford was outperformed by rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in week 6 even in victory and both Atlanta and New Orleans have combined for 44 points in the last 2 weeks against the NFLs top defense. They will still have to play the game and the outcome has not been carved in the stonewalls of destiny just yet as it will not be, until the last second in the game clock has elapsed. The clash between these two defenses promises to be entertaining to say the least however, since defenses dont face each other at the same time, the way Miami plans on offense and the plays Dolphins offensive coordinator Bill Lazor calls from the sidelines, will ultimately decide the outcome of the game. Miamis offense is better than Detroits, more than the Lions offense is better than Miamis, but with the weather threatening to slow down the Dolphins passing game, this game will be more evenly matched than their stats will show. Covering Calvin Johnson with Miamis rather short secondary would appear on the surface to spell a long cold day for the Dolphins defense but if Miami can neutralize Megatron, or at least slow him down the way Antonio Gates was last week, then the stat sheet will again in this case, be rendered less meaningful. This game however will come down to Bill Lazors play calling and player execution against the Lions top rated defense and this will in the end, be the factor determining the winner. Expect our Dolphins to return to South Florida victorious. My final score of 17 – 13.
