Infact, Reese made the telephone but his telephone couldnt transmit speech but only humming and buzzing sound. Reese tried and tried and he finally gave up. So many years after, Graham Bell started working on the telephone and he discovered that there was a screw that was 0.1000 inches off its position, all he did was to make that correction and the phone was able to transmit speech clearly. That was how the name Alexander Graham Bell got into history book as the inventor of the telephone. If only Reese had not given up but kept trying, he would have discovered his mistake and corrected it. Now, you understand why you must not quit.
