DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY “The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be.” ~Marcel Pagnol~ It really doesnt matter who we may be or what we do in this world, we all want a happy life and we all know that having a positive attitude feels better than living with a negative one. But for some reason we are all attracted to and can be easily drawn to the negative side or in my own words, “The dark side”. How do we go about establishing a more positive attitude in our lives as a daily habit when we are confronted with so much adversity? Even for someone like me, who thinks about and writes about being positive on an almost daily basis, having a positive attitude is not always easy. I still sometimes see the world through negative perspectives, focusing on the bad and ignoring the good, especially when things arent going the way I had hoped for or so meticulously planned out in my mind. As I found myself struggling with this during my lifetime, I found it easier as the years passed and would constantly remind myself that it really is possible to change! The path to happiness, though simple to imagine, can be a twisting, turning, obstacle laden road which can lead you in so many different directions. There are numerous challenges along the way but at the same time there will be many inspirations. There have been many amazing experiences that I never would have had if I had not made the choice to follow the path to a positive and happy life. If you want to live a positive, joyful and happy life, you cannot and I mean absolutely CANNOT surround yourself with negative people who are not encouraging your happiness. There was a time in my life when I was a pretty negative person, only focusing on the negative things in life. By doing this, I tended to attract other negative people who would seem to receive pleasure out of simply fanning the flames. When I decided to make the change to live a more positive life, I had to rid myself of all of the negative people who had grown stagnant and permanent fixtures within it. This, as you can imagine, wasnt easy. Getting rid of people hurts even when you know they arent good for you or your current lifestyle. But as I moved on, the path became clearer and I could see that a more positive and happier life was within my reach. They say “Time heals all wounds”, So focus on the positive and don’t worry, you will soon find that you too can be happy! ~Gary~
