DOOR PRIZE WINNER for YUM-YUM, The Power of the Bite featuring International Tapas Night. Next YUM happening again...this Fall. Sold out event! Thats good news. Better yet...the energy in the place was fan-tastic! The food was excellent and so was the diverse company. Food friendlies or a better name The Yummies (thanks Brian Mills for the reference point) were everywhere. Generally, Im wiped out on the day-of event, but not with this one. Before I showcase the The Yummies - food and folks, Id like to announce the winners of the ONE STOP DOOR PRIZE, 2nd, 3rd and 4th door prize winners. Drum roll for the ONE STOP wine basket (6 bottles of variety).., WINNER WAS DRAWN BY MR. DICK NELSON (1st pic), owner of Nelson Fine Art Center and HOST OF our 1st year YUM-YUM. The prize goes to... Mr. Larry Braaten (2nd pic). Congrats! 3rd pic is the winner with his wife Nancy who still came out for the YUM with a broken toe! 2nd prize winner...a 500 pack of crisp paper cocktail napkins (yes - you need 5 of them to wipe your mouth with) GOES TO...DRUM ROLL....TO COUNTY AND CITY COMMISSIONER MR DAVID TOMITA (4th pic)! Look at the sheer JOY on his face! 3rd and 4th prize winners (you didnt see these prizes at the table that evening because these restaurants couldnt participate this time around however they generously gave lunch vouchers). 3rd prize winner goes to Theresa Bellamy the original priceline negotiator - (5th pic - she is on the far left) she wins lunch for two at Cootie Browns or Jacks Grill. 4th prize winner goes to Kiran Singh (6th pic). This guy was heading out the next day for an international business trip and STILL came out. Yes - he is the dude in the forefront that looks like hes about to pass with YUM-YUM pleasure. Also in the background you will see volunteers that helped with registration. Mr. Doug Buda, my partner - and Brian Mills, the bouncer. 7th pic - volunteers Brian Mills, Doug Buda, Deanna Hayes and Judy Martelli. A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO all RESTAURANTS/BUSINESSES: PS - from my kitchen to yours, Restaurants...expect a bag of Cuban merengues baked Virginia Buda style as a THANK YOU for participating and taking a risk on this little ole show. 1) Earth Fare (Kate - you have always believed in me! Thank you and EF for your community support and involvement). 2) Nelson Fine Art Center and Brew Plum with Wanda Buda baklava- you are a true artistic and cultural leader. 3) Main Street Pizza Company (MORE THAN JUST MAKING PIZZA...making excellent food and challenging our city to grow food ...better) 4) Aramark (the crazy crew of folks who brought good food and great energy). Had a blast hanging out with you all. 5) Korean Taco (for taking a risk with YUM-YUM and being an entrepreneur in our growing downtown). 6) Bodega 105 - you are Cuban and some am I (well, Im first generation American, but close enough). WE SPEAK THE SAME FOOD LANGUAGE - nough said. 7) Main Street Cafe, Jonesborough (THANK YOU SERVING IT UP in JC and in JBOROUGH). You were a real blessing for this show. Your food is pretty darn good to. 8) KRAZY KREPE - Karina, you bring the extra YUM-YUM to Nelson Fine Art Center by being a permanent part of his business. Have already tried 5 of your lunch krepes and love each unique option. Rest of pics - too many show...some of my favs from the night are... Would have a posted a pic of my sister Ana, but she swore to have my head served on a silver polished platter if I published it. Kidding...well, maybe not. Mami y Papi - wish I could have taken pics of you before you headed out. Next time...the picture taking happens at the beginning of the event. THANKS YALL.
