DORAS FIRST RIDE: Reporting in on Doras first ride in several weeks. Had a lovely young lady,Shannon, over to test ride Dora as she has a couple of people interested in her for dressage. I couldnt have been more proud of my big girl and Shannon. Dora was calm and so well behaved and Shannons personality was very gentle and caring and Dora picked up on that. I walked with them for a while and Dora would lovingly look at me and ask kindly with her eyes for reassurance like she always does. She got lots of pats and kisses as we walked along. Shannon rode out with my friend Katt Hancock on her horse. The two stayed together and Dora got a little excited but never did anything wrong. I could have cried. I was just so proud and so happy that Dora was calm and wasnt even slightly interested in doing anything silly and certainly didnt think about rearing. Just goes to show you how important ground work is! All that hard work teaching her and showing her the way with patience and kindness has made a beautiful horse trusting and at peace. I couldnt be more happy. I will start riding her myself soon and teach her some basics before she heads off to a new home. Dora has made me very proud.
