DOVER MERCURY – 31/10/2013 Gate keep up perfect start Leaders Gate made it five wins out of five in the Premier Division with an 11-1 win over Dover Dynamos. And, with Snowdown having withdrawn from the league, Gate are now firm favourites to reclaim the title. Four-goal Duncan Bishop led the way against second-placed Dynamos with the other Gate goals coming from Scott Punton (3), Jon Underwood, Charlie Groombridge, Sean Green and Mark Gilbert. Dave Bathgate scored Dynamos’ consolation. Angels moved up to third place after beating Dover Elms Vale 2-0 thanks to goals from Nick Blackman and Brendan King. A single strike from skipper Jamie Cox was enough to earn Roman Quay Dons their first win of the season – a 1-0 success against Wallett’s Court. In Division 1, EDSR Rangers have opened up a five-point lead at the top after beating Real McFish 3-2. Their goals came from Kieran Elliott, Steve Betts and Stuart Andrews. Elvington Welfare won their second match of the season, edging Three Cups Rangers 4-3 through goals by Dan Clark, Barry Clark, Jason Beveridge and Andy McNicholas. Paul Pruce, Ben Dowle and Liam Philpott replied for Rangers. Shepherdswell and Athletico Red Lion shared six goals. Simon McPhee, Josh Foad and Brandon Dunn were on target for the ‘Well, with Luke Questead, Jordan Meadows and Nathan Ditchburn scoring for the Lion. Dover Priory remain top of Division 2 on goal difference from Clear Cut, who have a match in hand, after beating Curzon Rangers 4-0. Toby Kember (2), Steve Golden and Steve Rother scored for the Priory. Clear Cut eased to a 6-1 success over Centre Spot with their goals coming from Brandon Lewis (2), Rob Reynolds (2), Jamie Callum and Sean Beale. Arron Stoner scored for the Spotties. Indipendiente are in third after beating Bull Fossils 5-2 with efforts from Gary Daly, Jordan Pettman, Steve Cox, Chris Whiteoak and Sean Hicks, with Colin Davey bagging both Fossils’ goals. Luckless NT Rix went down by the odd goal in seven to Sportsman, Danny Watson scored a treble for Sportsman, with Jay Gavin adding their other goal, while Charlie Baker (3) and Gavin Seymour replied. In the other Division 2 game, Sporting Endeavour beat Workies 3-2.
