DOWNTOWN CROSSING: LOOK AHEAD (UPDATED) LOUISVILLE, Ky. (September 20, 2013) – The following closures and lane restrictions are expected the rest of this week and next week in connection with construction on the Downtown Crossing: Work Currently Underway: Louisville Streets: • The right lane and right parking lane of Jefferson Street from Preston Street to Jackson Street are expected to be closed through Monday, September 23 for work on a temporary signal. • The right lane of Preston Street from Market Street to Jefferson Street is expected to be closed through Thursday, September 26 for work on a temporary signal. • The parking lanes on Witherspoon Street from Clay Street to River Road are expected to be closed through Tuesday, September 24 for utility work and pile driving. • The right lane and right parking lane on Market Street from Jackson Street to Hancock Street are scheduled to be closed through Tuesday, September 24 for pile driving in the area. • The right lane of Jackson Street from Market Street to Jefferson Street is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, September 28 for pile driving in the area. Work Scheduled for Next Week: Kentucky Side: Work scheduled for Tuesday, September 24: • The ramp from I-64 East to I-71 North is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, September 24 for work on temporary lighting. It’s scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. Work scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 25: • The right lane of I-64 East from I-65 to the I-71 North ramp is scheduled to be closed overnight Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 26 for temporary widening. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. Louisville Streets: Work scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 24: • The right lane of Witherspoon Street from Shelby Street to I-65 is scheduled to be closed Tuesday, September 24-Thursday, September 26 for utility relocation. • The left lane and left parking lane on Jefferson Street from Preston Street to Jackson Street are scheduled to be closed Tuesday, September 24-Monday, September 30 for work on a temporary signal. • Overnight lane closures are expected Tuesday, September 24 where I-65 crosses Jefferson Street, Preston Street, Liberty Street and Floyd Street to remove underpass lighting. Right lane closures will be followed by left lane closures. At least one lane of traffic will be open. Closures are expected to begin around 7 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. Work scheduled to begin Friday, September 27: • The left lane of Preston Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street is scheduled to be closed Friday, September 27-Monday, September 30 for work on a temporary signal. Continuing Closures and Restrictions: Kentucky Side: • The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through the spring of 2016. • The right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through 2016. Indiana Side: • 7th Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street. This is a permanent closure. • VFW Boulevard has closed from 7th Street to 9th Street. This is a permanent closure. • US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes for several months. • US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane for several months. Vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street. The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
