DOÑANA TODAY These are some pics of todays tour with Mr and Mrs Haverkamp, from Holland. Fawns are growing bigger in the marshes edges next to a pair of Stone Curlews that stay active even during the day to feed their chicks. Not far from them, near the artificial warren, some rabbits show their eyes swollen with disease. Further down the marshes, we found an Iberian Hare trying to get rid of the parasites in its hears. And at Caño Guadiamar we stopped to look at several Purple Gallinules, Spoonbills, Glossy Ibis and Purple Herons, among others. At Haton Ratón Rice Fields we found large concentrations of waders, Glossy Ibis and Egrets. Collared Pratincoles and Whiskered Terns overflew us while a pair of Red-rumped Swallows kept coming in and out from under the bridge where I had parked the land rover. On the way to Jose A. Valverde Centre we had to stop again several times after finding 4 different Short-toed Eagles sat on pylons and electric wires. Later we had a very well deserved coffee break to see heronry and a way back to El Rocío around midday with several Griffon Vultures cycling high.
