DPD RECEIVES $1 MILLION GRANT Tuesday, the Denver Police Department announced that it is the recipient of a $1 million grant from the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Project, which will go towards improving Denver’s Sun Valley neighborhood. Historically, the Sun Valley neighborhood is a low income area with a high crime rate. The grant will allow for Denver Police, working with community partners, Servicios de la Raza, Denver Treatment Accountability of Safer Communities (TASC), Denver Housing Authority (DHA), and other community stakeholders to transform the neighborhood by providing resources to all community members. Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock was on hand to help make the announcement, alongside Chief Robert White, and Denver Police District 1 Commander Paul Pazen.
