DPR Korea was crowned Seventh Asian Taekwon-do Championship title in the senior category on the back of 24 gold and four silver medals as the mega event concluded at the National Sports Council covered hall in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Tajikistan won the junior title with 26 gold. Tajikistan finished as the runner-up in the senior category with three gold, 12 bronze and seven bronze medals while Kazakhstan, with three gold, four silver and five bronze medals, took third place. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan took second place in junior category with eight gold medals and Turkmenistan finished third with two gold medals. DPR Korea also bagged both men and women player-of-the-tournament awards with Mi Hang Pak, who won three gold medals, awarded best women player while Kyong Hum Ra, with two gold medals, entitles as best men player. Tajikistan´s Sironbonu Neivev and Turkmenistan ´s Orajmirat Chari were awarded girl´s and boys´ best players respectively in the junior category. The tournament also became remarkable for Nepal as Nishma Bashyal recorded the first ever gold in the Asian level championship to create a history. Nepal also won seven silver and 15 bronze medals as well. More than 300 players from 20 countries competed for a total of 60 gold medals in four categories - sparring, patron, self-defense and special technique -in the five-day long championship, organized by Nepal Taekwon-do Association.
