DPS is in charge of the investigation of a pedestrian / vehicle accident Monday evening that involved Big Spring Mayor Larry McLellan as the driver of the vehicle that struck a Big Spring resident. The condition of the pedestrian struck was not known by the DPS spokeswoman at the time of this report, although she stated to KBYG that he was still being treated for injuries in Odessa. DPS Tuesday afternoon released this statement to media: On October 20, 2014, at approximately 6:49 PM DPS was notified of a possible fatality in the city limits of Big Spring, Texas. This crash involved the Big Spring City Mayor, Larry McLellan, DOB 04/23/1951 and a pedestrian who was later identified as, Pullin, Robert A., DOB 04/05/1946, from Big Spring, Texas. This crash happened at the intersection of W 11th St and Scurry St. McLellan remained on scene. Pullin was care flighted to the Odessa Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. McLellan was traveling west bound on W 11th St approaching an intersection with a stop sign. McLellan failed to yield right of way to the pedestrian in the crosswalk and struck Pullin. McLellan was cited for Fail to Yield Right of Way To Pedestrian In Crosswalk- No Signals. This is still an active and ongoing investigation. No further at this time. Elena M.
