DPWH-San Jose denies ‘inefficiency’ By ARNOLD Z. SASTRADO SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) San Jose Engineering District here disputed the rumor that it had not fully accomplished its regular infrastructure projects for calendar year 2013. District Engineer Ely O. Tungala told Panay News that the office had defrayed a total of P162,957,000 for the construction of the following: * Bongsod Bridge (P13,000,000) * Ipil Bridge (P15,902,000) * Supa Bridge (P1,200,000) * San Jose Cadre Road to Gen. Fullon Road (P22,098,000) * Odiong Road (P7,326,000) * Sibalom-San Remegio-Leon Road (P44,950,000) and * Atabay-Inabasan Road (P40,445,000). These projects are already in use, Tungala stressed. Tungala, a DPWH employee for 25 years, revealed that Antique now has the finest road network in Western Visayas. “What consumes most of our time now is the maintenance of all roads and bridges, keeping them functional and in tip-top shape all the time,” he said. Tungala had previously served in Bacolod City, Romblon, Negros 2nd District, Masbate 2nd district, Capiz and the regional office as chief of Planning and Design Division before his promotion to his present post./PN ~angel~
