DRAMA TITLE: Ebola and End of Reprieve for Wild Animals (King Lion organises a party for all wild animals to celebrate) Lion:- My subjects, these are best of times for us. Never in the history of wild animals has there been a lull in the hunt for bush meat by humans in this part of the world. Thanks to ebola. Hurray my people. Wild animals: Hurrah! (Antelope clears his throat and speaks) Antelope:- Your majesty and my fellow wild animals. It is good news. For years, these black West Africans have hunted us. They have been after our juicy meat. They have turned our children into orphans and made our parents childless. Now they have been advised by their experts to stop eating bushmeat which they get from our bodies. This has made their hunters to start lamenting as many people are no longer patronising the bush meat market. (Monkey speaks after gulping a glass of red wine) Monkey:- Your majesty and my people. Ha! Ha! I am the happiest animal. They say monkeys, fruit bats and bla bla, are carriers of the Ebola Virus Disease. In fact, my wish is that these humans will not be spared from EVD. Let it keep spreading jare. Let it spread everywhere. This is what we wanted. Please sing this song with me. Emi la o ni yo si? Emi la o ni yo si? Ba ti fe o ri Bee na lori Emi la o ni yo si? Why should we not celebrate? Why should we not celebrate? What we desired Is what has really happened Why should we not celebrate? (The wild animals are ecstatic in their celebration. Suddenly the Eagle appears and interrupts) Eagle: Fools! Foolish king and subjects— Lion:- What impudence! What an obnoxious interruption coming from a morally bankrupt, retrogression-minded subject. If you are not careful, I will have you for my dinner. Eagle:- If you can catch me ni. Before you say Jack Robbinson, I am up in the sky. Siddon there dey blow grammar. As I speak now, the Ebola Virus Disease has been eradicated in Nigeria. Their scientists have discovered a vaccine which has both prophylactic and therapeutic purposes. Me sef sabi Grammar. What I am saying is that they have developed a vaccine to prevent and cure the disease. Now, they will never get infected even if they eat a diseased bush meat. And they have passed the vaccine to their neighbouring West African countries. As I speak now, the demand for bushmeat is higher than before. Many hunters are coming this way now. And they are not armed with dane guns. They are wielding AK-47, Kalashnikov, etc. Youd better talk to your legs and wings now and run for your sorry lives (The animals tremble and start fleeing but it is too late for many of them as Odewale, the chief hunter and his men make a lot of kills) Odewale:- Ha!Ha! Eyin eniyan mi, eran repete re(My people, this is plenty of meat). Tell them in Lagos. Spread the news to Enugu. Say to them in Port-Harcourt. Take it to Kaduna, Kano and Sokoto. Say it everywhere that we have conquered and business will boom (The End) Note:- May we witness the end of the Ebola Virus Disease in Jesus name.
