DREAM; RAINY DAY WOMAN PART TWO - I awoke. The wilderness from which I had escaped still howled in the melancholy drizzle. I had slept there forty nights and now looked back in anguish like a drowning man who emerges from the raging sea still gasping for air and staring back at uncertain fate that curls green fingers around his feet. Finally I gazed before me, and on a shining hill there stood a shining town like a silver paintiing smudged in autumnal rain. I remembered my appointment with Hannah. Soggy and stupid I climbed the glistening slope each foot tracking higher than the last. Stumbling along jeweled streets my heels started clicking in time to the dripping of the grungy gutters. A cool breeze befriended the broken shards of sunlight, and soon my journey was done. Hannahs house was brown and filigreed. The rose garden wrapped its arms around the ivory gate. I went to the back still too wet and grimey to make any kind of Scottish kings entrance. From the open brick porch came the dry clinking of glasses and laughing signs of good cheer. A bearded man with a crimson glass welcomed me and said that Hannah would soon be here. Warm wisdom is well worth the wait. When she appeared dressed in gold and white she said I was late! Her eyes smiled, and I saw light encircle her dark curled hair. She took my hand and I was counted as part of her company. The rainy day woman was my new born reality - jm
