DRIP…..DRIP!.....DRIIIP!.....DRIP DRIP!....DRIP!....DRIP! Arrrghhhhh, Just Make it Stop, Please! Do you have an old unit and with it old faucets that “drip drip” all day long? Maybe you have put in a maintenance request and after the plumber visit been informed that unfortunately the faucet cannot be repaired only replaced, yet it may take a little while before that happens, Drip! So what to do, because the drip, drip, noise is killing you! You have tried everything as you wait for this faucet to be replaced. You even put the little puddy tat on night duty to help contain the Drip! So now what? IMPROVISE! 1. Turn off the main valve each time when not in use. OR 2. Tie a sock, string, chain to the end of the faucet as shown in the picture. This allows the water to run down anything tied to the end of the spigot, helping stop the annoying noise from the dripping faucet. I always suggest collecting the water and using it around the home for cleaning, or you can use it to refill the toilet water tank. This keeps from wasting water. DID YOU KNOW? That a leaky faucet that drips at the rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons per year. Thats the amount of water needed to take more than 180 showers! Yup! I kid you not! Please check out some wonderful tips from the attached link to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website. epa.gov/WaterSense/pubs/fixleak.html Finally, please follow up with your landlord as, replacement of unrepairable/disposable faucets should be cheap and easy. Have a Drrriipp-free day!
