DRISCOLL SHINES IN 2-1 SHOOTOUT WIN OVER LINCOLN LOUIE ROWE EXTENDS POINT STREAK TO TEN GAMES IN WIN RALSTON, NE – Louie Rowe extended his point-scoring streak to ten games and goaltender Zach Driscoll earned Star of the Game stopping 29 of 30 shots he faced as the Omaha Lancers won their fifth straight game collecting a 2-1 shootout victory over the rival Lincoln Stars in front of 3,351 fans at Ralston Arena on Saturday night. As the power-play came to an end Matt Meier made a good first impression taking the puck through the defense to the bottom of the right wing circle. Louie Rowe was with him going down the left side of the zone. Meier fed the puck across the low slot to Louie Rowe who wristed in his third goal in three games to give Omaha a 1-0 lead at the 14:32 mark of the opening frame. Meier was given the assist in his first game with the Lancers and Jimmy Schuldt had his point streak extend with the secondary assist. After no scoring in the second frame the Lancers held a 1-0 lead going into the final period of regulation. Lincoln did not go away easily as a pesky Patrick Polino forced a turnover from the Lancers in the neutral zone. Polino immediately moved into his offensive zone and beat goaltender Zach Driscoll to even up the game at a goal apiece just 4:54 into the third and final period of regulation time. The goal was Polino’s 8th of the season, and came unassisted. The rest of the period went scoreless and for the second straight game Omaha was involved in a shootout. In the extra time, the Lancers peppered the net but Lincoln netminder Peyton Jones kept the Stars in the game stopping a flurry of shots in the final minute. In the shootout, Zach Driscoll stopped the first two shooters for Lincoln and then left it up to Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson in round two. The reigning CCM Forward of the Week fired the puck through the legs of Jones and forced Driscoll to come up with one more save for the extra point. Dominic Sacco came in on net and Driscoll put the shot aside and the Lancers beat Lincoln for the third time of the year with a 2-1 final score. Driscoll earned first “Star of the Game” honors in the win stopping 29 of 30 shots on the night. With the victory, Omaha has now won five straight games. Omaha is back on home ice tomorrow evening as Tri-City is back to Ralston Arena for the fourth time this year. Puck drops at 5:05PM. Can’t make it?
