DRIVER: Regan Smith / No. 7 Goody’s Chevrolet RACE: Subway Firecracker 250 (100 laps / 250 miles) TRACK: Daytona International Speedway DATE: Friday, July 4, 2014 Quotes | Regan Smith “It’s no secret the past two weeks have been disappointing for us. But in racing all you can do is move on. We have another great opportunity in front of us with Daytona and the Goody’s Chevrolet this weekend. Going back there as the spring race winner really does a lot for our team in terms of positivity. “Still, nothing is guaranteed in restrictor plate races. Our team has had success at both Daytona and Talladega in the past, but no matter what you’ve done, it’s still a bit of an unknown. These types of races always are.” Notes | No. 7 Team DAYTONA WINNER: Smith and the No. 7 Goody’s team return to Daytona as the most recent winners of the season-opening race. Smith led 35 laps on the day, and with the win earned his fourth NNS victory. The 7 team’s margin of victory in the event was 0.013 sec., the seventh closest all time in NNS competition, and second closest in series history at Daytona. GOODY’S ON BOARD AT DAYTONA: Smith’s No. 7 Chevrolet will carry the blue and yellow colors of Goody’s at Daytona International Speedway this weekend. In 2014, Goody’s embarked on its second consecutive year as an associate partner of JRM. RESTRICTOR PLATE STATS: Since joining JRM, Smith has recorded two wins (Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway), three top-five and four top-10 finishes in five restrictor plate starts. Additionally, he has led laps in each of those five events, earning an average finish of 5.4. PILING ON WINS: Kevin Harvick’s victory last week at Kentucky gave JR Motorsports its fifth win of the season. It was the company’s 17th victory all-time. DASH 4 CASH QUALIFER – The Nationwide Series’ popular “Dash 4 Cash” program is back, beginning with the qualifying race this weekend at Daytona. The top-four highest finishing NNS regulars will advance to the first round at New Hampshire. There, the highest finisher of the qualifying competitors will take home $100,000. The same rules will apply for the next three events at Chicagoland, Indianapolis and Iowa. If the same competitor sweeps the first three events and then wins the Iowa race outright, he is eligible for an additional $600,000, bringing the total payout to $1 million. IN-RACE REPORTER: Smith will serve as ESPN’s In-Race Reporter during the NNS broadcast at Daytona. Fans can submit questions for Smith by visiting ESPN and searching ‘In Race Reporter’. HELLMANN’S APPEARANCE AT WINN DIXIE: Smith will sign autographs for fans from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST on Thursday, July 3, at the Winn Dixie (353 West Granada Blvd.) in Ormond Beach, Fla.
