DROGBA RESCUES IVORY COAST Droabga Rescues Ivory Coast From Japanese The introduction of of Drogba changed the game that Ivory Coast looked destined to lose despite the presence of mid field wizard Yaya Toure. The Japanese scored first in the first half after Honda strike. For much of the first half of play, Ivory Coast appeared frustrated and destined to lose their first match in the 2014 World Cup only for the entry of Drogba in the second half to rejuvenate the team. Within two minutes of Drogba entering the field, Ivory Coast scored two goals within two minutes. Only 1 minute 38 seconds separated the two two goals and it is recorded as the fastest consecutive goals by a football team in the history of the FIFA world cup. Ivory Coast only started going when Drogba came on and it seemed he had the keys to the team’s confidence. Drogba was not playing at his best level but managed to bring back confidence to the Ivorians, but fear and despair to the Japanese.
