DROWNING IN SHIPYARD ORANGE WALK DROWNING On 21.7.13 at 4:15 p.m. acting upon information of a male minor who drowned at Shipyard Village, Orange Walk, police visited Camp 10 Shipyard Village where they saw the body of 10 year old Johan Schmitt, student of Camp 14 Shipyard Village, next to a pond with no sign of injuries. Initial investigation revealed that on 21.7.13 sometime around 12:00 midday Johan Schmitt was swimming in the pond along with 5 other friends when at 2:00 p.m. he suddenly went under water and never surfaced. His friends seeing this went to get assistance and with the help of other villagers the body of Johan Schmitt was retrieved from the pond at 3:00 p.m. and transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police investigation continues.
