After 3,400 entries, 17 countries, and almost 2,000 songwriters, with past winners including, Megan Washington, Gotye, Kimbra, Eskimo Joe, and The Preatures, I am SO pleased to announce that I have made the shortlist for the Vanda and Young Sonwriting competition for my song, Midnight Hour, produced by Vienna People! The Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious songwriting competitions, supporting talented songwriters whilst raising much-needed funds for music therapy. This music therapy works to help people with developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Rett Syndrome and Angelman Syndrome and disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Dyspraxia and Spina Bifida. The competition is open to songwriters worldwide with each applicant paying an entry fee of AU$50.00 per submission. Money raised goes directly to supporting Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia. To date, the Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition has raised close to half a million dollars for NRMTA over the past three competitions. I am absolutely thrilled and cannot begin to explain how honoured I am to be recognised for my songwriting amongst the top 50 composers globally for 2014.
