DSD Dance Center proudly presents: However: This Event is not exclusive to DSD students - It is open to all! The Tap Factor All­ inclusive Workshop! THIS Sunday, November 2nd from 9 AM ­-11:30 AM All Ages $75 ­ includes materials and donation to Best Buddies NY Come join Christopher Erk and the Tap Factor for this unique tap dance workshop that culminates in a performance at the 2014 Best Buddies New York City Friendship Walk on November 16, at Riverside Park in Manhattan! Workshop elements: ● Painting personal tap floors ● Discussion about tap dance and community engagement and how it pairs with the Best Buddies mission. ● Basic tap steps and concepts of improvisation ● Student Teaching and Leadership Development ● Performance preparation for the November 16 Best Buddies NYC Friendship Walk The Tap Factor works closely with Best Buddies NY and Best Buddies International to create all­inclusive programing in an effort to share tap dance and celebrate the abilities of all! After a five year international tour with the off­Broadway hit show, Tap Dogs, he settled in NYC, where he has come to work with some of the industries most predominate influencers and their ventures; Gil Stromings’ Break the Floor Productions, Jared Grimes’ Broadway Underground, Rasta Thomas’ Bad Boys of Dance – Tap Stars and Noah Raceys’ New York Song & Dance Company and Pulse. He has performed in venues such as Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the NYC parks and subway platforms. As a former adjunct faculty member at Wright State University along with teaching experience with both professional and recreational dancers, Chris engages with a broad range of learners. He is a recent graduate of the New School for Public Engagement, where he focused on articulating his community engagement organization, the Tap Factor, which seeks to enrich the world by offering tap dance immersive programing and performance opportunities. He most recently collaborated with Best Buddies, an organization committed to raising awareness of the abilities of individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD). Over a four week process, Chris introduced his all ­inclusive tap dance programming to individuals with and without IDD. The end product of this experience culminated in a live performance at the Best Buddies NY benefit concert at Carnegie Hall.
