DSU Meeting: March 27 Meeting Commencing 11:36 Attendance: Cody, Alli Siddy, Clara, Katherine, Akeisha De Baat, Lily Cryan 1) Rep show Happening April 2nd to the 5th! Very exciting- come see it! 8pm and $5 student tix, $15 for everyone else! Come support your peers! Different casts for most nights- you could always see the show twice! 2) Grads Thank you everyone for purchasing clothing! Great comments about clothes and company! Thanks Juan for the logo! Grads are also looking for Ushers and ASMs for the Grad show- Contact Akeisha or Allen. Ushers see the show for free- ASM see during tech runs. ASMs must be available from April 29th to May 3rd to learn the show! 3) After Party Happening! Grads are still trying to lock down a location. April 5th at 9:30- tickets are $10- purchase from any Grad next week! This is a 19+ event. 4)Bake Sale We need bakers and sellers for the Rep show! Signup sheet will be on Akeishas locker! Rep show is biggest moneymaker- need more than just a few things for Student Show. Need lots of baked goods! 5) Informal Get your submissions into Desi [email protected] as soon as possible! The Informal is on April 9th at 6pm in Studio D. Your piece does not have to be finished- just something to show! 6) Ascension 2014 Get your statements of interest into Mahaila by the end of the week! You do not need to have a huge idea or a proposal for a piece- just need to let us know that you are interested and we will work with you from there. If we have too many applicants we will figure out where to go from there. Any questions- talk to Lily and Mahaila. [email protected] 7)Allison Dance Team Alli is in the midst of starting an SFU Burnaby Dance Team. Idea came about because she was approached by someone at Athletics to create more dance opportunities for non-dance students at SFU at the Burnaby Campus. The only obstacle to approve so far- the NCAA has to approve the dance team because SFU is an NCAA approval. We need student interest! Please sign the petition to show SFU that students want this! This is an opportunity for both Dance Majors and non-dance Majors to dance for fun! Need student number and name on the petition to the sports club coordinator who will address whether or not it will be approved or not. Supporting the Dance Team does not mean that you are signing up- just supporting the initiative. Alli has a sheet or you can email her as well! The main goal is for fun! They dont want for this to interfere with the SFU Dance Program, it is more for entertainment and enjoyment than for serious dance times! Practices and shows will be on the Burnaby Campus. Perform at the Basketball Games and potentially other places. Audition will happen in the Fall! Stay posted for more information! The SFU Dance Team is a team of trained dancers who perform at varsity basketball games and other sporting events. There are at least two mandatory practices a week. Specializing primarily in jazz, contemporary and hip hop dance genres. Opportunities to dance, choreograph, get involved with the University, and make great friends are just a few things the SFU dance team offers. Students must Audition for this team and be selected by the team presidential committee. 8) Spring Cleaning Last thing that Charlotte and Akeisha will do as presidents is clean out the Studios! By April 4th- all the clothes in lost and found will be put out to be claimed. By April 10th we will be throwing out anything left in the studios, fridge, and change rooms that does not belong to SCA or the DSU. 9) Banner Should have been done last week but dont know where it is- email sent to copy center to hear back information on the banner. 10) Treasurer We will be reimbursing Akeisha $178.95 for the DSU Party. We approved up to $200.00 for the DSU party and are well within budget. Cody First, Katherine Second. 11) Ice Packs RETURN THEM!!!! 12) SFSS Elections READ THE REFERENDUM ABOUT HEALTH PLANS! They affect you very specifically- please read everything carefully and vote! 13) Elections Lily and Mahaila are running for DSU Co-Presidents Clara is running for treasurer WE NEED A SECRETARY!
