DTE Energy Illuminate Your Property from Dusk til Dawn with DTE Energys Outdoor Protective Lighting Program Automatic Outdoor Lighting does a lot for a little money DTE Energys Outdoor Protective Lighting can give your property an instant facelift. At dusk, sensors built into the fixtures automatically turn the lights on, keeping your property safe and secure into the wee hours of the morning, then turns themselves off when the sun comes up. Keeping your property well-lit with outdoor lighting is a very effective preventive measure against intrusions and burglary. DTE can add Outdoor Protective Lighting to your property at no initial charge by installing lamps on existing electric poles, or a wooden pole can be installed for a small fee. Additionally, DTE will service these lights, replace lamps and maintain fixtures, as needed, for the life of the lighting agreement. All installation and maintenance services are offered at no charge. Only a small monthly usage charge will appear as a separate line item on your DTE Energy bill. Criteria for New Installations Customers must have active electric service from DTE Energy. Customers cannot have a past due balance, account hold, payment agreement or shutoff protection plan. Once the past due balance is paid in full, customers can request Outdoor Protective Lighting. Customers will pay a flat monthly amount per light installed. Customers are required to sign a contract for a minimum of four years, and will be responsible for the life of the contract. DTE Energy is responsible for maintaining all outdoor protective lighting free of charge. Note: The mercury vapor lamp is no longer available for new installations. When an existing mercury vapor lamp needs repair, it will be replaced by a high pressure sodium lamp.
