(MNS photo) MANILA (Mabuhay) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is holding a “Diskwento Caravan” in typhoon-hit Ormoc City. DTI-Consumer Welfare and Business Regulation Group (CWBRG) Officer-in-Charge Victorio Dimagiba said that participating consumer goods manufacturers have safely arrived in Ormoc City around 5:00 a.m. Thursday. The caravan offers discounted basic necessities such as bread, sugar, toiletries, canned goods and other food products, among others. During the recent National Price Coordinating Council (NPCC) meeting, local bread manufacturers said Gardenia loaf bread will be sold at P50 per loaf while Pinoy Tasty loaf bread is at P30 per loaf. Regular prices are at P59 per loaf for Gardenia and P37 per loaf for Pinoy Tasty. DTI-Regional Operations and Development Group (RODG) Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya added that the DTI plans to hold Diskwento Caravan every other day in typhoon-hit areas, particularly in central Visayas, to ensure that affected residents get supplies of basic goods at lower prices.
